Through The Seasons | I Might Create A Calendar!

bridge

I have decided to create a simple project for 2027. I want to photograph the seasons here in Roseburg and the surrounding areas. Who knows, I might make a calendar out of it…

I am getting comfortable with my camera, and with that, I am getting used to taking better photos too. Now I think it is time I step it up a notch and test myself with a year-long challenge. Why not? I think I can do it!

So, here is the plan…

Creating challenges

Challenging yourself is biblical. Every day, as believers, we challenge ourselves, and the Lord challenges us to follow Him in every aspect of our lives, from how we speak to others to how we help them. Our attitudes, our demeanor, and the gratitude we hold during hard times- these are all challenges.

I want to challenge myself with my photography. I want to see where the good Lord is taking me with it. So, I have made a decision. I will start a twelve-month-long project taking photos each month through the seasons. The project photos will then be used to create a calendar for 2028!

Projects, as a hobby photographer, I believe, can turn your hobby into something that could turn into something more professional. It’s like our walk with the Lord; you can say all you want, but it is in the doing that truly proves your faith. One thing follows the other.

Creating projects do not have to be as involved as a twelve-month one. However, a project like this is still simple if you think about it. I get out at least weekly or every other week for a day or two. That is plenty of time to better my craft and complete a project like this.

So, I’m in! Starting this month, November, I am going to create a portfolio of twelve of my best photos and hopefully create a calendar for 2028. I seriously hope that you, too, start a photo project of your own; it will help you, and it will get you out there without an excuse.

God bless and talk soon,

David.
