Matte, something I have come to like more and more as my photography editing skills grow. I love glossy images as much as you might, but matte really can have some great eye appeal, too!
So, what is “matte?” A matte photo is a flat photo, one that is non-reflective and absorbs light, creating a soft, glare-free image like the blackberries above.
Forever and a day, I’ve been learning more and more about the two editing software programs I use, Luminar Neo, and Lightroom Classic. It was not until I came across the Luminar AI software that I took a serious look at the matte look of a photo.
Unlike Lightroom Classic, Luminar Neo had a literal tab called MATTE that I could use without having to figure it out in Lightroom. Since then, I have been using the matte feel for about fifty percent of my photos.
Personally, I like the flat look; it seems, well, a bit more realistic and a whole lot less AI-created. No, I do not use it as much as I did in this photo just here and there when it calls for it, I do, and I will.
Flat, dull, and without the gloss, some photos simply look better in matte, personally speaking, of course.
God bless and talk soon,
David.
