I love a great moody photo! Of course, autumn and winter are the best (and, I believe, the only) seasons of the year to create moody photos. Here I want to share why I love them and share some moody photos I took this morning…
Moody photography has always been a WOW! factor for me when it comes to enjoying photos. It has especially become a regular practice on social media platforms like Instagram.
Yes, social media can put a damper on us from time to time, but still, after a break from it for a bit, I am back looking over my favorite style of photo. I think, personally, it is the colors that catch my eye.
There are those that get really dark, pretty much black and white. I am not into that as much as I am into seeing a little more color in my moody ‘likes.’ Moodiness isn’t about that “dark lifestyle” for me; it is simply a style of photography that creates a darker, but almost cozy atmosphere.

Moody photography, to me, of course, is not about darkness as much as it is about a strong mix of shadows and rich colors. Fog and mist also add to the mystery for me. As I approach peak fall and this coming winter, moody is another style I am going to focus on, in both my landscapes and macros.
Colors and shadow, after all, are what naturally catch our eyes first in a photo. There is something eye-catching about moody photography. It sucks you into the scene and tells a story like no other…
God bless and talk soon.
